Telkom Prepares Telkom-3 Satellite to Improve Quality and Capability of Telecommunication Infrastructure

To improve both quality and capacity of ICT infrastructure in Indonesia, PT. Telekomunikasi Indonesia, Tbk (Telkom) will soon launch the Telkom 3 Satellite.

"Telkom-3 Satellite will strengthen network to solve the need of lines uncovered by optical fibre terrestrial network," said Head of Corporate Communication Telkom, Eddy Kurnia, in a sharing session of Telkom 3 Satellite with users of Telkom-3 Satellite in Jakarta (24/3).

As explained by Eddy Kurnia, the Telkom-3 Satellite project, having value at around USD 200 million, is now being made at the satellite plant of ISS-Reshetnev of Russia, with the communication sub-system made by Thales Aleniaspace France, and will be launched using the Proton M-breeze rocket. "Telkom-3 Satellite is scheduled to finish and to be launched at end of 2011," said Eddy Kurnia.
