DiGi appoints ZTE to Deploy LTE-ready network

DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (DiGi) today announced the appointment of ZTE Corporation (ZTE) to build a unified mobile network that will provide DiGi with fully transformed 2G/3G/4G network starting third quarter this year.

This brand new network will be immediately capable of delivering download speeds of up to 42Mbps using HSPA+ and thereafter up to 4 times faster when the 4G/LTE (Long Term Evolution) spectrum becomes available. This will result in a major enhancement of network quality and efficiency, enabling improved customer experience, and strengthening DiGi's competitiveness.

The partnership was formalized today at a signing ceremony witnessed by YAB Dato' Seri Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia and H.E. Mr. Wen Jiabao, Premier of China.

Henrik Clausen, Chief Executive Officer of DiGi said, "This brand new LTE-ready network will allow our customers to enjoy cutting edge mobile speeds, increased capacity and improve quality of service. PCCW Global and CAT Telecom to explore business opportunities

PCCW Global, a subsidiary of Hong Kong's premier telecommunications provider, PCCW Limited, and CAT Telecom Public Company Limited (CAT), a leading Thai telecommunications service provider, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop close and strategic cooperation.

This agreement serves to support CAT's recent establishment of a Point of Presence in Hong Kong. The two companies will explore opportunities for cooperation in telecommunications services to support demand from customers with needs to connect Thailand, Hong Kong and the rest of the world.

DOCOMO and DeNA to Partner in Mobile Social Gaming — Will offer cross-device platform both in Japan and overseas

From May, Mobage, DeNA’s highly popular social networking platform centered on gaming, will be directly linked to DOCOMO’s i-mode™ mobile Web portal for feature phones (highly functional non-smartphones) and “docomo market” portal for smartphones. Linkage will enable DOCOMO customers—including more than 6 million smartphone users projected for the current fiscal year—to navigate easily to Mobage’s social-gaming services.

A dedicated Mobage application will be preinstalled in selected DOCOMO smartphones to be released beginning in the foreseeable future. DOCOMO users will enjoy special benefits when using Mobage, such as early access to sought-after new content and exclusive privileges for selected content, as well as easy direct billing via DOCOMO’s sp-mode™ service for smartphones.
