Ericsson Response partners with SingTel Group for disaster communications

Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) and Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) today announced a partnership to provide emergency communications services to support disaster relief efforts in South and Southeast Asia through Ericsson Response. This is a world’s first operator partnership for Ericsson Response.

Ericsson Response, a volunteer initiative that supports natural disaster relief and humanitarian operations, works at establishing essential mobile communications to support humanitarian agencies and other partners to carry out their work. Ericsson Response works in collaboration with several aid agencies, such as the United Nations (UN), to meet their communication needs.

Under this partnership, SingTel will provide satellite services from countries where its regional mobile associates operate. In addition, the SingTel Group’s associates, Advanced Info Service (Thailand), Bharti Airtel (India), Globe Telecom (Philippines), Telkomsel (Indonesia) and Warid (Pakistan) will provide local resources to assist Ericsson Response’s relief efforts. This will allow for faster deployment of emergency communications services in the event of disaster.

This partnership supports the SingTel Group’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) regional disaster relief efforts, which include financial assistance, community rebuilding support and communication support for relief workers, in countries the Group operates in. For communication support, Ericsson Response was chosen as the best partner for implementation.

NTT DOCOMO to Connect Sony’s New Tablet Devices to its 3G Network | Press Center | NTT DOCOMO Global

The products, which are both 3G and Wi-Fi®-capable, deliver the perfect combination of hardware, content and network with seamless usability for a high-quality, engaging entertainment experience.

It boasts a unique asymmetric design that makes it feel light and comfortable when held, even over long periods of use. DOCOMO and KT Share Content for Android Smartphones | Press Center | NTT DOCOMO Global

TOKYO, JAPAN, August 31, 2011 --- NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced today an agreement with South Korea’s leading telecom operator, KT Corporation, to share content for smartphones powered by Android™ 2.1 or later versions.

Starting today, DOCOMO has begun offering KT-provided content on “docomo market,” a mobile Internet portal in Japan for mobile applications and content. The initial lineup comprises 30 titles of Android content now popular in South Korea, including action games and puzzles, utility apps for translation, travel etc., and live wallpapers featuring supercars in action.

In South Korea, KT plans to offer about 20 titles of DOCOMO-provided content via its content and application store, “olleh market,” by the end of 2011.

The agreement is one of various commercial initiatives being developed by a joint-business committee that NTT DOCOMO, KT and China Mobile formed in January. The aim is to accelerate the sharing of high-quality content for enhanced mobile experiences in the companies’ respective markets.

More channels for mio TV’s Jingxuan Pack subscribers

Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) today launched two Asian channels on mio TV - Celestial Movies (天映频道) and SingTel's self-packaged Jia Le Channel (佳乐台) - which feature a selection of high-quality content from the region.

Fans of Asian movies will enjoy the best Hong Kong and Asian content. Celestial Movies opens with blockbuster movies (李小龍) and (精武風雲: 陳真). These movies feature a stellar cast including Donnie Yen, Shu Qi and Tony Leung Ka Fai.

“We are introducing these channels based on feedback from our customers and are committed to bringing them a strong selection of the latest top-quality programmes from the region,” said Mr Goh Seow Eng, Chief Digital Home, SingTel.
