NTT DOCOMO to Connect Sony’s New Tablet Devices to its 3G Network | Press Center | NTT DOCOMO Global

TOKYO, JAPAN, September 1, 2011 --- NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced today that it will connect the new Android 3.2-powered tablet devices from Sony Corporation, Sony Tablet™ S (SGPT113JP/S) and Sony Tablet™ P (SGPT211JP/S), to DOCOMO’s 3G network in Japan, from this fall. The products, which are both 3G and Wi-Fi®-capable, deliver the perfect combination of hardware, content and network with seamless usability for a high-quality, engaging entertainment experience.

Sony Tablet™ S features a large 9.4-inch screen and is optimized for rich media entertainment. It boasts a unique asymmetric design that makes it feel light and comfortable when held, even over long periods of use. Sony Tablet™ P features a revolutionary dual 5.5-inch display that allows the device to be folded for maximum portability. With split screen action, Sony Tablet™ P is also ideal for mobile communication entertainment.

Users of both Sony Tablet™ S and Sony Tablet™ P can access rich video content through “Video Unlimited” as well as games for PlayStation™Certified devices. The tablets are embedded with DLNA, a consumer electronic networking standard that allows users to “throw” personal video and picture content to televisions or stream audio content to home audio devices via Wi-Fi*.

The tablets are compatible with DOCOMO’s mobile Internet portal for smartphones, “docomo market,” and support sp-mode™ and mopera U™, DOCOMO’s Internet service providers.

The tablets will be available from this October or November through docomo shops, DOCOMO’s online shop and Sony Stores. Pre-orders will be accepted from the middle of October at docomo shops.
