Brightstar Extends Global Reach with HTC Agreement in Africa

MIAMI and BELLEVUE, Wash. and Johannesburg – October 19, 2011 – Brightstar Corp., a global leader in services and solutions for the wireless industry, today announced it has secured a distribution agreement with HTC in Africa. Expanding its global operations in the region, Brightstar will begin distributing all HTC mobile devices to 28 sub-Saharan countries, including Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Zambia, Uganda, and Ghana. Brightstar currently distributes mobile devices for HTC in Latin America and Southeast Asia.

As part of the agreement, Brightstar will initially distribute five devices, including the HTC Flyer™ tablet, HTC Sensation™, HTC Wildfire™, HTC Desire™ and HTC ChaCha™. Devices will be available from multiple operators, including MTN, Airtel, Vodafone/Vodacom, and from a wide range of retailers.
