BT today announced it has moved up higher as a “leader” in the IDC MarketScape: Asia Pacific Next-Generation Telecom Services 2011 Vendor Analysis.
According to the authors, the IDC MarketScape provides a clear framework in which the product and service offerings, capabilities and strategies, and current and future market success factors of IT and telecommunications vendors can be meaningfully compared. In this latest publication, BT strengthens its position as a leader for Asia Pacific Next-Generation Telecom Services.
According to the IDC MarketScape Analysis, “BT Global Services has executed well on the ‘Asia Pacific investment programme’, which it set out for the region last May, including the launch of the Bid Response Centre and an Account Start Up unit in Singapore; new technology showcase centers in six cities (Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney, New Delhi and Shanghai), new product launches including Global Etherflow services in nine cities, Microsoft UC solutions and new Quickstarts services.”

The analysis further adds, “The provider has 38 MPLS PoPs in 14 markets and five datacenters (Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, Japan and India) within the region, of which four are capable of deploying cloud services. BT is also active in seeking out Asian logos and has been relatively successful in clinching managed services deals with some big names in the Asian market.”
BT was noted in select areas for strong capabilities. These included,
Strong PS (Professional Services) capabilities. PS is a key element for BT, with the integration of BT Frontline and PS personnel from the Bid Response Center, BT now has a team of very high-level specialists in its pursuits team capable of engaging with the C – level clients for opportunity seeding.
Focus on private cloud implementation with PS-led opportunities. In the past 12 months, BT has strengthened its cloud road map in Asia Pacific.
Strong commitment on innovation. BT continues to maintain strong focus on innovation and R&D. Globally, it has around 5,600 patents and applications.
BT aligns its investments to the growth plans of its multi-national customers as they expand across Asia Pacific and other high growth regions. BT is ideally positioned in Asia to assist global corporations to expand across the continent, while it offers the global breadth and depth of capabilities required to help Asian-based companies develop business around the world.
